Flu Vaccine

Dr. Sodhi recommends all pregnant woman receive the flu vaccine.

The flu is more likely to cause severe illness in pregnant women than woman who are not pregnant. The flu may be harmful to a developing baby. Pregnant woman getting vaccinated can also help protect a baby after birth from the flu, because moms can pass antibodies onto developing babies during pregnancy.

Your baby’s immune system is still immature when it is born. During flu and cold season, the most vulnerable populations are the very young, the very old, and those that are immunocompromised. The best way to protect your baby is to get vaccinated on schedule.

For your convenience, you can receive the flu vaccine at Bloom during your prenatal visits. It is safe to receive the flu vaccine during any gestation of your pregnancy. Dr. Sodhi also recommends that anyone who will be living in the house with the newborn baby also receive their flu vaccine.
